I have been a tenure-track Adjunct Professor (&lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_ranks_(Portugal_and_Brazil)#Federal_level"&gt;Professor Adjunto A&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt;) at the &lt;a href="https://dcc.ufrj.br"&gt;Department of Computer Science&lt;/a&gt; of the &lt;a href="https://www.ufrj.br"&gt;Federal University of Rio de Janeiro&lt;/a&gt; since August 2018.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
My main research interests are&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;set theory, especially descriptive set theory;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;graph theory;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;computability theory, especially as it relates to descriptive set theory;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;applications of games in math.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In April of 2018, I finished my PhD at the &lt;a href="https://www.illc.uva.nl/"&gt;ILLC (University of Amsterdam)&lt;/a&gt;, supervised by &lt;a href="https://www.math.uni-hamburg.de/home/loewe/"&gt;Benedikt Löwe&lt;/a&gt;.
In my thesis &lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="https://www.illc.uva.nl/cms/Research/Publications/Dissertations/DS-2018-09.text.pdf"&gt;Games for functions: Baire classes, Weihrauch degrees, transfinite computations, and ranks&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt; I studied several aspects of infinite games used to characterize classes of functions in descriptive set theory.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Prior to that,&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In August of 2013, I finished an MSc &lt;em&gt;cum laude&lt;/em&gt;, also at the &lt;a href="https://www.illc.uva.nl/"&gt;ILLC (University of Amsterdam)&lt;/a&gt; under the supervision of &lt;a href="https://www.math.uni-hamburg.de/home/loewe/"&gt;Benedikt Löwe&lt;/a&gt;. In my dissertation &lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="https://eprints.illc.uva.nl/id/document/2120"&gt;Game characterizations of function classes and Weihrauch degrees&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt; I studied some preliminary aspects of the topic I then studied in my PhD.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In February of 2011, I finished an MSc at the &lt;a href="https://www.cos.ufrj.br/index.php/en/"&gt;Systems and Computer Engineering Program&lt;/a&gt; of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, supervised by &lt;a href="https://www.cos.ufrj.br/~cerioli/"&gt;Márcia R. Cerioli&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="https://www.cos.ufrj.br/~petrucio/"&gt;Petrucio Viana&lt;/a&gt;. In my dissertation &lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="http://objdig.ufrj.br/60/teses/coppe_m/HugoDeHolandaCunhaNobrega.pdf"&gt;Decomposição por cliques maximais e subgrafos proibidos para grafos de caminho&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt; I studied abstract and algorithmic aspects of &lt;em&gt;definitions by forbiddance&lt;/em&gt; in graph theory and related areas. This dissertation was selected as one of the &lt;a href="http://www.imago.ufpr.br/csbc2012/ctd.php"&gt;ten best&lt;/a&gt; master&amp;#39;s dissertations in computer science defended in Brazil in 2011.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In 2009, I finished a BSc in math at the Federal Fluminense University. For the latter two years of my BSc studies, I was an undergraduate researcher under the supervisition of Petrucio Viana. The resulting work titled &lt;em&gt;Independência dos axiomas de Dedekind-Peano&lt;/em&gt;, dealing with some aspects of the independence (or lack thereof) of the usual (second-order) axioms for natural numbers was awarded the prize of best undergraduate research done at the Federal Fluminense University in 2008, in the area of exact sciences.&lt;/li&gt;
